Chep Network’s Tash Johnson joins Special in national role

Special has appointed Chep Network’s Tash Johnson to the newly created role of national head of production, as it looks to expand its production offering.

Johnson will oversee the agency’s integrated production capabilities across Sydney and Melbourne, including film, photography, digital and tech, social content, and activations.

She will lead Special Made, the agency’s in-house production studio, in a bid to “be even smarter, faster, and deliver more creative impact than ever before”.

She joins the independent agency from Chep Network, where she has spent the past four years as national head of integrated production. Prior to that, she spent seven years with DDB Group. She has also held various production roles at The Monkeys, M&C Saatchi, and Host Sydney.

“Having always admired the work that Special does, when the opportunity came up to lead their production team, I naturally jumped (as high as my 5 foot 2 inches would take me) at the chance,” she said in a release.

“Special is home to some of the most iconic campaigns. Not only is the work they produce brilliantly crafted, but it’s also always smart and always stands out. I am thrilled to now be a part of that process, working alongside a brilliant team of people.”

Tori Lopez, managing director at Special, described her as a “brilliant, people-first leader with infectious energy”.

She said Johnson’s experience and future-focused approach make her the “perfect person” to shape Special’s next chapter in production.

“We’re thrilled to have her join the team in this newly created role as we expand our production offering,” she said.

The agency also recently welcomed international creative duo Peter Defries and Alan Wilson to its regional leadership team for the Uber and Uber Eats account.
