Chrissie Swan surprises in Logie Nominations
Chrissie Swan was the surprise contender among the Logie Awards nominations this weekend. The former Big Brother contestant and Ten morning co-host is up for three nominations, and one for her show, The Circle, which pulls in a daily audience of around 70,000 viewers.
By comparison, MasterChef, which pulled in around 2m viewers during its previous season, only managed one nomination, for most popular reality show.
Swan is in the running for a Gold Logie for The Circle, a Silver Logie for most popular presenter and most popular new talent.
Also in contention for the Gold Logie for most popular personality on TV is Karl Stefanovic of Nine’s Today – his first nomination – Rebecca Gibney and Jessica Marais of Packed to the Rafters (Seven), Asher Keddie of Ten’s Offspring and Adam Hills of Spicks And Specks (ABC1).
Who the hell is Chris Swan?
Who cares? Is the Logies even relevant anymore? I dont know anyone that watches it other than the red carpet arrivals.
Maybe it still rates well, I wouldn’t know, (or care)
as if everyone won’t vote for karl to see what condition he’s in on the today show the next morning.
5 or 6 years ago in the UK, Pop Idol viewers bored with voting, decided that the winner should be the opposite to the skinny pop like image the judges wanted simply to annoy both the judges and prove a point. Idol was subqeuently canned and XFactor took over.
I have the feeling of de ja vu, and will be placing $10 on Swan to win Gold this year.
Hopefully, this too will prove the end of the rubbish that is the Logies.
