Cleo’s Sarah Oakes to edit Fairfax’s Sunday Life
Cleo editor Sarah Oakes is leaving ACP to become editor of Fairfax’s Sunday Life magazine which is inserted in The Sunday Age and Sun-Herald.
She will join the title next month on an initial 12 month maternity cover contract for Michelle Hurley who became editor last year after the sudden departure of Alison Boleyn.
Oakes was editor of Cleo for more than two years and was also editor of Pacific Magazines’ Girlfriend and launch editor of Total Girl
Fairfax Magazines Chief Executive Lisa Hudson, said: “I’m delighted to announce Sarah’s appointment. She brings to the role of editor of Sunday Life a wealth of experience in magazines, having won numerous awards in the industry.
“As well as her editorial experience, Sarah is a polished presenter and brand ambassador with experience in the strategic, marketing and promotional aspects of magazine publishing.”
Update: Gemma Crisp has been named as the new editor of Cleo.
Well done to her! Sounds like a talented lady with a good eye for magazines. Hopefully she will spruce up Sunday Life and make it more interesting, instead of dry.
Shame for Cleo – but Sarah will do great things with Sunday Life!
Congratulations Sarah,
From a former Sunday Life editor
Go Sarah!!
Sarah was always too nice for ACP. Best of luck to her at Fairfax.
Rod – “Too nice for ACP” ?! Do tell!
Let’s hope she makes it sparkle. It’s always been a bit schizophrenic – one week great, the next week abysmal.
In fact I can’t ever remember it consistently being any good.
Go for it, Sarah
Well done Sarah, she will be excellent in this role.
Good Riddance!
like many others, I have nothing nice to say about her at all.
And yet your IP address implies that you don’t actually work with her, Fred…
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
I’m with Fred – good riddance to the woman. Sarah’s far too talented, polite and good looking for her own damn good. And let’s hope she can weave her magic over there at Sunday – at the moment it’s all a bit too dry, dull and up itself for anybody’s Sunday morning.
i think Sarah could be the next Obama. First job would be to lock away Fred. Congrats to Sarah, her deadication to Journalism and the job at hand is second to none. She deserves all good things that come to her.
