Coast mapped by History Channel
A land of stunning plains is circumnavigated by one of the greatest coastlines in the world and will now be documented in a new series.
The announcement:
It was announced today that Foxtel has commissioned Coast Australia, an Australian version of the BAFTA award-winning British series Coast, to be produced by Great Southern Television.
To premiere on The History Channel in the second half of 2013, the 8 x 1 hour series will be hosted by internationally renowned British historian and television presenter Neil Oliver – along with a diverse group of Australian experts – and will focus exclusively on Australia’s stunning coastline.
I applaud Great Southern Television and Foxtel – History Channel in commissioning this Series. I have been an avid watcher of Coast on SBS Television. The British series has to be one of the best television series I have ever watched. It intertwines facts, seascapes, coastal environments, history, geography and many other elements to create a very entertaining and thoughtful look at the way Britains intereact with their coastline.
Given the guest presenter, the impecabble Neil Oliver, the stories of Australia’s Coast should give viewers just as much pleasure as the British Series. One disapointment that could hopefully overcome by selling the free to air rights to SBS would be to see the series on free to air television at some stage. Please show the series on Free to Air televsion at some stage, not everyone can afford or has foxtel. Best wishes to the producers of the series.
