Coles goes down down with finger ridin’ chicken
Coles has plumbed new depths with its Down Down campaign, flogging chicken with an excruciatingly ill-fitting version of the Dean Martin classic ‘That’s Amore’ sung by a butcher and a very bad backing band.
The ad by Coles agency Big Red highlights the supermarket’s cheap chicken while mangling the classic with lines such as: “If you love your chook, here’s where to look, it’s a down down”.

Highlights include a fortunately unidentifiable person in a chicken suit meandering randomly through the ad before cutting to a shot in a field showing the chicken riding the Coles big red hand like it’s a bucking bronco.

Just when you thought the Coles commercials couldn’t get any worse!
This lates add is appalling what depths will they go to next ?. The son is not to bad but the chicken is an insult to shoppers
Saw the Coles ad last night… a total embarrassment.
The sad thing is someone was actually paid money to come up with this inane campaign ….
This ad is a insult to us all, perhaps Coles could view the planets best 20 ads of all time , watch and learn,
The fact that their advertising campaign has inspired a post on mumbrella and comments from a number of users serves to prove it’s been effective! I personally can’t stand it but it’s certainly going to generate a thousand conversations between colleagues at work complaining about it & giving Coles publicity.
They’ve “plumbed new depths” indeed! I’ve seen one with a middle-aged woman singing appallingly “It’s a down down”. It looks like the Scared Weird Little Guys are also involved, for their sins.
Truly, truly awful. Dean Martin would be turning in his grave. Status Quo’s ‘Down Down’ is one thing, but ‘That’s Amore’?? I guess the writers of the song must have given permission, more’s the pity. What next? Abomination.

When I first saw this as I saw red…this campaign is a disgrace….are they ripping off the poultry farmers now too… Shouldn’t Australians wake up and realise that permanently cheap low prices that these supermarket Giants are force down our throats with their brainless advertising, is basically taking the food out of our Farmers mouths…which IS the backbone of our country.
WAKE UP! Buy local! Buy whole foods! Buy organic! In the long run its going to be better for the economy…better for your health… keep jobs going for your children & grand children…benefit everyone all round.
And no I don’t have a lot of money…I am below the ‘poverty’ line… I am a single pension mother and can still afford to buy like this! I buy within my means…

I didnt think you could get worse than Coles ” No added hormone ” ad, featuring what seemed a smacked out Normie Rowe. This ad comfortably passes that ad in the pathetic stakes…..I want to smash the TV everytime I hear it, which seems to be every ad break.
I love that big butcher who sings the “down down” chicken commercial for coles. Is he a pro singer? I love his style.
Please can someone make these ads stop?!!
