Cooking up a copyright infringement
Masterchef has been a smash for Channel Ten this year, doing more than any other show to help turn around the network’s fortune.
So the good folks at Ten must be a bit annoyed to find rivals Channel Nine have managed to cook up a very similar logo and visual language for new cooking show Hot Plate:
Still, there aren’t a lot of images that could be used to illustrate a cooking competition, right?
Not to mention the lowest common denominator paired-off bitch-fight style structure being an embarrassingly poor copy of MKR. Bogans, woggy mum-daughter combos, gay men, rich bitches. Ugh.
It’s almost like someone’s taking the piss out of both MKR and MasterChef.
Sadly, they’re not.
It’s astounding to see so much money wasted on plagiarism. Rather than imitating an existing format in the same market, why not look into a new format/style/hook that will surpass Masterchef rather than try to shave a few % of its market share?
What a waste of time and money for everyone involved.
Would love to read the comments but can’t get rid of that damned SILVERPOP ad!!!
From what I can piece together from the ad, contestants with an overbearing personality trait are paired up and sit around a communal table judging food cooked by another set of contestants.
Sounds like a television show I already know of.
What is it with with the preponderance of gay ‘bitch queen’ stereotypes in so many of these shows?!
Well both have clearly taken colour and fire from the logo and branding of Gordon Ramsay’s Hells Kitchen
And which supermarket chain will be the main sponsor for this little gem?
Its almost like someone is taking the piss out of the Australian publi…. oh 🙁
Who has the energy for a new Masterchef?
I predict ‘off the boil’ headlines.
Pardon the pun but these shows are just larded with stereotypes. Even Masterchef has been playing that card by giving drama queens a fairer ride than those who get on with the task and cook without fuss.
