Seven closes on victory for TV ratings year while Nine leads in key advertiser demographics

With just seven days remaining of the official 40-week TV ratings year, Seven has won the ratings week for a 21st time giving it an unassailable lead over Nine.

While Nine’s Ashes coverage helped the network run Seen close last week, Seven now leads 21-18, with just one week left of the official year.

In the metric preferred by the free-to-air networks – average share across the ratings year – Seven also remains narrowly ahead, with a prime time share of 20.1% of the metro audience, compared to Seven’s 19.5%. Ten is on 12.8% and ABC is on 12.2%

In the advertiser-friendly demographic of viewers aged 25-54, Nine leads Seven by 20.9% to 19.8% for the ratings year to date. Ten is on 16% and ABC 7.1%.
