D-day for Nine Radio bids
Ben Fordham is 2GB's leading light
Takeover bids for Nine Radio are due today, Mumbrella understands, with a number of potential suitors ready to lob their offers.
Nine Radio consists of four talk-back stations on the AM dial — 2GB in Sydney, 3AW in Melbourne, 4BC in Brisbane, and 6PR in Perth — and has reportedly received interest from over a dozen interested buyers.
In September, following the sale of Domain, Nine boss Matt Stanton confirmed the company had fielded “a number of unsolicited offers” for its radio network, and said it is undertaking a strategic review into the assets.
Lets hope a not so Sydney centric buys … 3AW is not the voice of Melbourne it used to be!! From once never having the dial move from 3AW, it is now all over the shop for me.
Merry Christmas
What a mess.
Ah the usual old white media men battling it out for yesteryear supremecy
This is an interesting one to watch. If not just because it will likely be the last ever ‘big’ sale of AM radio assets.
The audience figures are relatively robust, at the moment, but how do you value a broadcast platform that is A/ Targeting the over 55’s, and B/ clearly approaching EOL?
I hope John Singleton buys the Networks.
