David Penberthy to edit Sunday Mail
News Limited has appointed news.com.au’s editor-in-chief David Penberthy as editor of The Sunday Mail in Adelaide, replacing Megan Lloyd, who is leaving the company.
Penberthy is a former editor of The Daily Telegraph in Sydney.
The Adelaide-born Penberthy will begin his new role immediately. Luke McIlveen will remain editor of news.com.au, with the company choosing not to appoint a new editor-in-chief at news.com.au.
McIlveen will now report directly to News Limited editorial director Campbell Reid.
Well, the Coalition can expect a fair run in the Sunday Mail…not.
Penbo is of course engaged to Labor MP Kate Ellis.
Not relevant enough to mention in your article?
Yes, to go from editing our second highest selling newspaper (The DT) and one of the country’s most popular news websites, to a Sunday in the country’s smallest mainland capital, as a career move it doesn’t make much sense without more information.
@KF I would imagine he is keen to move to Adelaide to live with his wife-to-be Kate Ellis, Member for Adelaide.
Given his domestic arrangements, I’ve always been impressed with the way Penbo toes the Murdoch line. So Robbo, I don’t think the Coalition has much to worry about from the Sunday Mail. KF: it might be that Uncle Rupert actually wants Adelaide to have a decent newspaper. After all, Adelaide is where the Murdoch fairytale began. The Mail and the Advertiser have long been hopeless jokes.
what about the Punch??
You obviously don’t read it, Dan, you twit.
