Deborah Thomas to become public face of ACP
Nearly two years after making virtually its entire PR team redundant, magazine publisher ACP has moved to give itself a public voice again, appointing Deborah Thomas, one of its most successful former editors, to the new role of General Manager: Media, Public Affairs and Brand Development.
Thomas – a 23 year ACP veteran – is best known for a decade as editor-in-chief of Australian Women’s Weekly, which is the country’s biggest monthly title . In 2009 she was appointed General Manager – Editorial and Advertising Projects, Women’s Lifestyle.
Her appointment – and the attempt to give ACP a voice in the market again – is likely to increase speculation that the company is being readied for a stock market float.
According to the ACP announcement: “Ms Thomas will oversee public relations and cross-promotions, implement integrated promotional strategies to help drive circulation and advertising revenues, and represent ACP at events and in the media to support magazine brand campaigns and sponsorships.”
Deborah will be perfect for this role. Good on Phil Scott for thinking of her.
Hankering for a job at ACP, Marina? That was the quite possibly the most suck-hole 15 words ever written in the English language.
Thankfully I have a job that I love & clearly not bitter and twisted like some. Why not give ACP credit where its due. I’ll bet your name’s not really Brian either.
Brian: Marina Go doesn’t need to suck up for a job, she’s already proven her capabilities as an editor many times over. And this _is_ a typical Phil Scott move – he’s an incredibly canny publisher. And finally, Marina is bang on the money – Deborah Hutton will be a superb ambassador for ACP and especially its womens’ and lifestyle titles.
@Jack
Deborah Hutton?
Sorry, Deborah Thomas. That’s what happens when you post at 2am!!!!
