Dentsu appoints Nine’s Danica Bellchambers as chief data and technology officer

Dentsu ANZ has appointed Nine’s head of AI product Danica Bellchambers in a newly created chief data and technology officer role.

Bellchambers starts at the agency on May 11 and will also join the Dentsu ANZ executive leadership team.

In her new role, Bellchambers will be tasked with “building a more connected and cohesive data, technology and AI strategy” for the company.

Prior to her year-long stint at Nine, where she led the company’s AI product strategy, she spent three years at Clemenger BBDO and Chep, where she was the executive director of data science and analytics.

In a media release announcing her appointment, Dentsu ANZ’s CEO Rob Harvey said Bellchambers is “exactly the leader we need at this moment”.

“We’re already doing great work across data, technology and AI, and her appointment is about accelerating that momentum and connecting our capability more deeply across the organisation,” Harvey said.

“She brings deep expertise that will help us scale what we’re doing well and deliver even greater value for our clients.”

Bellchambers said she is “excited to … architect a high-performance data and AI strategy, leveraging the strength of our global capabilities to deliver high-impact, local results that drive our clients’ businesses forward.”

Last month, Dentsu ANZ formalised the positions of two interim executives, appointing David Halter as chief practice officer of Dentsu Creative Australia, and Vanessa Nicol as chief operating officer of Dentsu ANZ.
