Did Julia Gillard really say that?
Now you can call Dr Mumbo an old cynic here, but does anything strike you as a tad suspicious about the editing of Julia’s Gillard’s “Turn to Channel Nine’s coverage” message at the 28 second point of this video?
Another subtle example here:
My girlfiend’s editor has been doing some freelance work.
When I saw the ‘journo’ line up I burst out into hysterics. Thought it was a Chaser spoof!
They’ve definitely edited together her words to make her sound like she says that – the giveaway is that they cut away from her face so you can’t see the join
That George W. edit is a beautifully seamless piece of work.
That’s terrible.
They’ve edited her voice to make it sound all nasal and annoying.
Bastards!
Is this an election or an episode of Underbelly?
Seriously, this is a parody, right? Advertising the election as if it was high-stakes blockbuster drama just looks ridiculous.
And the editing… I guess we already knew the Channel Nine promo department was ruthless and devoid of ethics but this is a new low. And many in the electorate who are less versed in editing grammar will fall for it.
Just clicked through to the video on YouTube. Comments are all ‘pending approval’, presumably so no negative comments are posted. I screencapped it, just for future’s sake: http://twitpic.com/2e6mzy
Unfortunately for Nine, you can’t hide the Like/Dislike rating, which is now (at time of writing) 2 likes vs 20 dislikes.
yes, the pm does indeed have “channel 9 on her to do list” and if she wins the election it won’t be pretty to watch.
