‘Donuts for dogs’: CGU helps promote Australia’s small businesses
IAG insurance company CGU has launched a campaign, via The Monkeys, to help existing and prospective small business owners realise their ambition.
The ‘ABN Rescue’ campaign launched with an ad for small business Domuts, which makes doughnuts for dogs, during the AFL Grand Final on Saturday.
Domuts was founded by a woman named Thea and her young son Marcus. Six months ago, the business was deteriorating until CGU provided Thea with assistance and helped her get the business back up and running.
The Domuts ad sees dogs racing to enter Dogtopia, where the doughnut treats, and tennis balls, blossom on trees.
Intuit Quickbooks did this exact same strategy and idea in the US for small business by picking one SMB and producing a TVC to appear in a football broadcast. In QB’s case it was Death Wish Coffee and the Superbowl. So done to a much larger scale and impact than CGU.

If CGU tasked The Monkeys with developing an original SMB strategy and concept, then they should expect a refund.

I submitted a request to them a month ago and they did not even offer the courtesy of a reply !
I began to wonder if it was a scam or a way to generate more people buying insurance with their group?
I used a different email than the one listed here.
