Dr Mumbo takes a fond look down TV’s memory lane
With the upfronts season finished, commenter Sam nominated Ten’s 1992 season promo as probably the high point of local TV history, saying: “Nothing will come close to this Channel 10 promo. Hands down, the best in the history of Australian television.”
Intrigued, and on a mission to relive his own glory days, Dr Mumbo had a look and found it delivered everything he hoped for; Kylie Minogue in a bath, Bert Newton and a cast of beach babes and dancers with the last vestiges of 1980s Big Hair.
… was Dr Mumbo equally “disturbed” by “the now disgraced” Don Burke and Bill Cosby on the 9 promo?
Thanks Dr Mumbo. These ads were the highlight of my summer holidays! 91 and 92 were particularly good years, but Channel 10 was the clear winner here.
