Fetch adds Discovery Channel and TLC to lineup with Nat Geo People to be removed

Fetch has streamlined its brand, dropping TV.
Discovery Channel and TLC will now be available on Fetch while Nat Geo People will be removed, the company announced today.
The new channels will be available from March 1 and build on Fetch’s current channel offering, which includes Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Zoo Moo, Disney XD, CBeebies and MTV Classic.
At the same time, the company announced Nat Geo People will stop broadcasting locally and has subsequently be removed from the lineup. National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild will continue to run on the platform.
Discovery Channel will be available in the Fetch knowledge pack and TLC in the Fetch variety pack. Both are also included in the Fetch Ultimate Pack.
Shows available on Discovery Channel include Gold Rush, Fast N’ Loud and Deadliest Catch. Meanwhile on TLC, shows including Say yes to the Dress, My 600lb Life and 90 Day Fiance will be available.
Scott Lorson, CEO of Fetch, said the changes are part of an expansion of the company’s content offerings and come as the broadcaster approaches a million subscribers.
“Since its inception in 1985, Discovery Channel has been a flagship channel in the factual entertainment space. We are delighted to add Discovery Channel and TLC to the Fetch content line up, as we continue to offer Australian subscribers unparalleled value and choice with 49 leading channels available for only $20 pm, along with the option to choose from four $6 per month ‘skinny’ channel packs,” he said.
The latest announcements come almost six months after reality TV streaming channel Hayu was added to the lineup.
Early last year, Fetch launched a major marketing initiative, dropping the word ‘TV’ and striving to become a “one-stop shop” for consumers.
This is great. Discovery channel will be a welcome addition to Fetch.
The History channel, Eurosport and Eurosport news would be also good additions to the channel lineup.
This sucks that Nat Geo People is being removed. It’s the main channel I watch. I have all the good show on it. Nearly all the animal shows ??????????????????
Dr Oakley, Bondi Vet, Emergency ER, Banged Up Abroad, Ultimate Airport, Dr K’s exotic Animals, Hard Time, Live Free Or Die, just to name a few..
This really sucks and to be honest it’s just another disappointment from Fetch..
Devastating news really.
All the other channels are shit (except MTV)
Soooo not happy.. 🙁 🙁 🙁
Hey Michael, Foxtel is also removing Eurosport News which is a real pain as I watch it frequently.
Foxtel is also removing Nat Geo People (hence Fetch removing it because its feed is not being carried in Australia anymore) and FX.
Obviously Foxtel’s new slogan is “less for much more.”
Thank goodness for Fetch.
Lol, Bianca, Nat Geo Wild is good- has real animal documentaries.
Hi Mark,
‘Less for MORE’ is about right when it comes to Foxtel.
Fetch is much better. The apps, movies, channels and catch up services are excellent.
You will find it isn’t fetch removing Nat Geo People, it’s National Georgraphic, they are ceasing the channel in Australia, so it’s not available for them to stream anymore. The shows from People will probably just move to the other 2 NG channels.
Not happy at all Nat geo people is the main channel I watch! Lawless island, live free or die, filthy rich, I wouldn’t go in there, locked up, break out, Yukon river run and so many others ? if it’s due to numbers of channels ditch the upcoming TLC!
Cool. Hopefully Discovery’s Science Channel is next.
My main channel to watch is Nat Geo People – who knows why they have removed it from Australia. Obviously NG don’t give a you know what about the subscribers here.
That’s all good and proper adding Geo channels….but when will the AFL be available in the Sport line up ?
That is good adding Geo channels but when will something interesting like AFL – live , be added in the Fetch line up ?
I’m still trying to find all the animal shows you have listed that are no longer on any channel in Australia since Nat Geo People was discontinued. Can they be found anywhere? All my favourites seem to have disappeared even though they were supposed to be transferred to Nat Geo wild.
