Floods put radio ratings on hold in Brisbane

Yesterday’s start to the radio ratings year was cancelled for Brisbane because of the chaos wreaked by the floods.

The radio ratings system relies on the recruitment of listeners by door-knocking researchers who ask them to keep a diary of listening habits.

However, with the cleanup only just getting underway, the industry has concluded that listening patterns – and responses – would be distorted.  

Joan Warner, CEO of Commercial Radio Australia said: “We believe the main priority and focus of people in Brisbane, Ipswich and all flooded areas will be very much on clean up and recovery.
