Scott: moving back to education

The recently departed managing director of the ABC, Mark Scott, has made a career move away from the media sector by taking the job of director of the NSW Department of Education.

Scott, who led the public broadcaster for a decade until he stepped down in April, was previously a teacher and worked for education ministers in the Greiner and Fahey governments.

His appointment comes just over a month after he finished up at the ABC, where he was credited with reshaping the broadcaster for the digital age. Many observers had expected him to re-emerge in the media sector.
