Former Afterpay marketing chief joins Airwallex

Global payments platform Airwallex has appointed former Afterpay marketing chief Andrew Balint as its new VP of marketing for Asia-Pacific.

Balint will be responsible for overseeing the Australian-founded platform’s brand strategy, growth marketing, integrated campaigns, content, and partnerships across key markets including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

He joins Airwallex with 25 years of experience in marketing, including senior roles at amaysim, Ola, and Optus.

Most recently, he was VP of marketing ANZ and APAC at Afterpay, where he spearheaded business, marketing and product strategies that integrated brand-building activities, growth marketing initiatives, customer experience and product innovations, and launches.

“I’ve been watching Airwallex’s incredible growth and innovation and I’m thrilled to now be part of the journey,” Balint said of his appointment.

“The global payments landscape is evolving rapidly and Airwallex is at the forefront of that change. With innovation and customer experience driving everything we do, I’m excited to help expand our presence and make a real impact across the APAC region.”

Reporting to Arnold Chan, general manager APAC, Balint will work alongside the global marketing team, led by Jon Stona, VP of global marketing.

Balint will be based in Sydney.
