Former CEO Ben Lilley to acquire McCann Australia
Former agency CEO Ben Lilley is assuming ownership of Interpublic Group’s McCann Australia – part of McCann Worldgroup. The agency will still have access to the parent company, but will operate independently in Australia.
Lilley stepped down as CEO and chairman of McCann at the start of 2018. He joined the agency in 2011 following the sale of his agency SMART to McCann.
In 2016 he added the title of creative leadership chair for Asia Pacific.

Ben Lilley is acquiring McCann Australia, two years after departing as its CEO
Well done Ben.
Big move and good to have you back.
Andy
Well done Ben. What a coup.
I suspect this will start a trend with holding groups, who are overstretched and potentially too large:
– Identify strong entrepreneurs
– Selling local brands and assets to them
– Consolidating their geographic footprints as a result to only have profitable global hubs
You could easily see a couple of examples of local offices in holding groups, who have had key staff leave, perhaps having their global management teams eyeing off getting those problem offices to those key staff.
One of the best creative leaders and entrepreneurs in the country. A winner. Great to see him back.
