Former Ten exec Rob McKnight launches The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show to ‘change the way we watch TV’

Rob McKnight, the founding executive producer of Studio 10, says he is launching a show which will “reshape the way we get news and information”.
The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show will feature McKnight alongside former Big Brother winner Ben Norris and journalist David ‘Robbo’ Robinson in a daily “Australia-centric” show across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Ticker TV.
Ticker TV CEO Ahron Young said it was the perfect time to be shaking up the TV industry, while McKnight called the idea of launching something in this environment “radical”.
“We’re launching a show that falls outside of the traditional broadcast restrictions – we can talk about anything and bring real opinions without fear of angry executives,” McKnight said.
The show will “offer unique conversations and topics not necessarily covered by conventional media”, the group said in a statement.
“I think what you’ll find is a discussion you won’t see on television that will be compelling, engaging and sometimes enraging,” McKnight said.
McKnight, who has also worked at Seven and Nine, is behind the TV Blackbox podcast and website, alongside Kevin perry and Steve Molk.
A release about the new TV program said McKnight is taking his TV Blackbox mindset to the project which will “marry zany and serious” concepts.
Robinson also previously worked on Studio 10. His departure from the morning program, according to the release, “broke viewers’ hearts”, and he’s now excited to “be at the forefront of content delivery”.
“The show is going to be something very different and I’m extremely excited to be part of it. It’s the future of broadcasting and I can’t wait.”
Norris said there would be no holding back.
“From the moment I met Rob and Robbo, I knew the chemistry was worth sharing with the world,” he said. “Individually, we have all been told to tone it down in our careers, and now we have no reason to. This is something bold and informative with a side of humour, and in my mind that’s what’s missing from the current landscape of TV and radio.”
The show kicks off on Monday 20 April at 1pm, and runs from Mondays to Thursdays.
Definitely a great idea . Everyone is fed up with the old style of news . We all need fresher , informative , light hearted ness , serious moments but a real mix up .
I think I have said this before but I do like the way some of the UK news happens . Good to have a Doctor in now and again . Following a story be it good or bad , crime in the streets , house prices . So much information would be great .
Good luck with its Robert you deserve it that is for sure . Best Bonnie
