Foxtel prepares to shut down illegal streaming of Jeff Horn and Terence Crawford boxing match
Subscription television provider Foxtel is getting ready to protect its pay-per-view boxing match between Jeff Horn and Terence Crawford – which will be broadcast at 10am on Sunday – and has warned would-be pirates they face fines of up to $60,000 and five years in jail.
Foxtel has partnered with social media providers to surveil, track and shut down unsanctioned broadcasts. Foxtel subscribers can pay an additional $49.95 to watch the match legally.

It would be nice if there was actually a way to legally stream the fight in this country. I have no interest in a regular Foxtel subscription (fewer and fewer Australians do) but I would be willing to pay even as much as $49.95 to legally live stream this event though there is no such option available.
In the US a free trial of ESPN+ will let you legally stream this fight no cost (normally $4.99/ month).
In Australia Foxtel make it impossible for 75% of households to view this event legally in the comfort of their own homes, robbing themselves of revenue, doing nothing to help promote the sport, fueling the demand for illegal streaming and forcing people to go to a whole lot of trouble many would rather not have to if only there was an alternative.
I jumped on twitter to check updates on this fight as I was watching the UFC and it seemed the ESPN+ platform shat itself as a lot of people were complaining
How do you know FOXTEL have the rights to stream the event on the IP network?
Unlike satellite which has a footprint (oz), IP doesn’t and geo-blocking is easy. It’s not as simple as you think, they likely had the right to broadcast the event in oz, but nowhere else.
