Foxtel to remove music channels

Foxtel’s music channels will be removed from the service at the end of this month, with the Paramount-owned MTV Hits, Nick Music, MTV Club, and MTV 80s all exiting the platform.

This leaves only the four Vevo channels — Vevo Pop, Vevo 2K, Vevo 90s, and Vevo Retro Rock — available via Foxtel’s internet-based linear service, and marks a further shift away from video-based music channels on the platform.

In June 2020, Foxtel discontinued its in-house music channels, Music Max, CMC, Channel V, and Smooth — the latter co-produced with the Nova radio station of the same time — after striking a deal with ViacomCBS (now Paramount Australia) to feature the MTV and Nickelodeon music channels on the service.
