Freeview to take free-to-air channel flicking into the digital age

Freeview Australia is in the testing phase for an app that will deliver the free-to-air channels over the internet.

The DVB-I technology will deliver ABC, SBS, Seven, Nine, and Ten in the same linear manner as the current Freeview digital TV system, but via the internet. The same channel numbers, program guide system, and navigation will be used to ensure a seamless transition.

“Our goal is simple: ensure every Australian can easily find and watch their favourite free TV channels, whether their TV has an antenna or not,” said Dean Dezius, general manager of Freeview Australia.
