Get Up! skewers Rinehart over Ferguson lawsuit
It might sound like Adele but it’s not probably not the Adele you were expecting.
Activist group Get Up has posted a YouTube video in which they rework well known singer Adele’s song ‘Someone like you’ and instead fronts the video with the face of Fairfax business journalist Adele Ferguson.
The video called “Someone (Else) To Sue” chastises mining magnate Gina Rinehart over her attempts to force journalist Adele Ferguson into revealing her sources by suing her in court.
That’s a giant dollop of “who cares?” The inner-urban left trying to create a martyr, launched with an anthem. Cue the tumbleweeds….
GetUp’s “we shout the loudest” activism on topics like this is in stark contrast to their deafening silence, when freedom of speech was directly threatened by Roxon and Conroy.
The GetUps will be getting down at the “Bourgeois-Lefty Hipster Hajj” next weekend, TEDx, so this effort is doubtless their party-piece to share among the chatterati and twitterati at that hot-air fest.
Well done, Mike. You win the prize for crowbarring as many dull, meaningless knee-jerk cliches as possible into three paragraphs.
Anyone want to talk about, you know, the work? Or the issue?
What about respecting the copyright of Adele?
Hey Mike, where would we be without fuckwits?
Mike, you left out the bit about ”sandal-wearing, muesli-chewing, bike-riding pedestrians”
Wow, ‘skewering’ Rinehart – there’s an original idea.
I don’t care about what Mike’s going on about, I just care that it’s crap.
Cue the liberal bandwagon.
Groucho, you do all the fuckwits in the world a great disservice with that analogy, none are as dim as Mike.
The beauty of Adele Ferguson is that she is straight down the middle and brave. This isn’t.
