Go rate yourself – NBN style
Dr Mumbo knows what it’s like to have people point out his mistakes – but it’s been a long time since someone printed out one of his articles and corrected it by hand, only to photograph it and send it back to him on Twitter.
Actually, that has never happened to Dr Mumbo.
But it has, it seems, happened to news.com.au technology writer Jennifer Dudley-Nicholson who has been corrected pen-and-paper style by NBN PR head Karina Keisler for an article on the network ‘rating itself’.
Dr Mumbo notes the mixed-media dispute began when Dudley-Nicholson tweeted: “Frustrated by the NBN? It gives itself a 7 out of 10” – linking to her article. (Dr Mumbo, in his bid to help out in the peer review process, also notes the original tweet, screencaptured below, included a headline which indicated the ranking was only 1 out of 10).
To be berated by Karina Keisler is a badge of honour and JDN should wear it with pride. Mind you, doesn’t put you on any short-list. KK and her boss Bill Morrow have been spinning so relentlessly they must both be giddy. Seven out of 10? Pull the other (copper wire).
That’s why Morrow got the job, and they kicked the experienced engineering CEO out. They spin faster than a hard disk.
The NBN is a joke. It looks like NBNs PR is an even bigger joke lol
… interesting managing to $49B on Nbnco, whereas today Telstra’s market cap is something like $48.4B?
… and I checked, PwC for one suggests it’ll be worth less than $30B!
Doesn’t the NBN office have a phone? Seems like this could have been handled by a call rather than weird public shaming/bullying.
Its a cheap tactic designed to make the journalist too intimidated to write negative reports. Clearly the journo has hit a nerve somewhere
Sorry.
Didn’t see the story.
Down here in the country not everyone gets the NBN. So it’s a zero from me.
