Gold Coast Bulletin reprimanded by Press Council for misleading headline

The Australian Press Council has reprimanded the Gold Coast Bulletin for its article “Teachers found lacking” for failing to ensure the headline was accurate and not misleading.

The Press Council said the “the headline implied the review was critical of teachers generally”, where the article, published on July 28 2016, actually discussed the process and training of teacher accreditation.

The article reported academic consultants views on the training of teaching saying the regime should be similar to those of doctors, lawyers and pilots to increase teachers’ personal and motivational skills.
