Updated: Grahame Morris, chair of WPP govt relations firm in hot water over trans comments
The position of Grahame Morris, chairman of WPP governmental relations firm Barton Deakin Government Relations, appears to be under review after comments made on 10’s The Project on Tuesday.
During a segment regarding Liberal candidate for Warringah, Katherine Deves, Morris commented Deves should firmly remain the federal candidate and the party should re-endorse her.
While a final decision is yet to be settled on, WPP provided the following statement to Mumbrella: “We do not agree with Mr. Morris’s views.”
Why is everyone who has a view that does not conform with the so called “norm” has to be shut down?
Do all those who are trying to “cancel” this person (who I have no idea who he was until now) believe in free speech?
It may surprise you, there are sections of the community who just don’t agree with things that ‘you’ might agree with and they have the right to say their piece without a pile on.
Ouch. Seems funny that the story going around is all about the trans focus, but he’s clearly also racist AF too. Time for people like this to make way for people who give a damn about all of us. I’m not saying because he’s an older white guy that he should be out here – but because he’s harming others regardless of his background. Just uncool. Surprising we still have so many people in positions of power thinking this way. Time for change.
How is he allowed to make these wrong and hateful comments so often?
‘Old white man makes out of touch comments.’
Who knew?
Whilst I agree women’s sport is important, it doesn’t require ‘saving’. Trans athletes are a growing issue but mainly because of endemic and uneducated attitudes which are shown here.
What does ‘in hot water’ actually mean?
