GroupM global boss confirms new Mediacom CEO while Canon moves to Mediavest
The global president of GroupM has said Mediacom Australia has found a new local boss to replace former CEO Mark Pejic, who left the agency in June.
The news comes as the agency, which faced a major misreporting controversy earlier this year, faces new challenges with Canon understood to have moved its $11m media account to Leo Burnetts/Mediavest and law firm Slater & Gordon understood to be pitching its $9m media account.
In an interview with Mumbrella Asia, Dominic Proctor declined to reveal the candidate but confirmed “we have identified a replacement for Mark”.
Asked when the appointment would be announced he said: “Quite soon. I think the Australian market has had enough rumours to deal with and I’m not going to fuel that fire by giving you any more. But it’s a good appointment, we are very happy with it and it will be announced soon.”
What a strange press release. We have a new leader, but we can’t say who. We have lost some more business, but our Chairman is on holiday. We have bought part of a business, but we won’t comment. Weird.
Hi Jackson,
Not everything comes from a press release – in this case the very end of the story does, but nothing else. The rest is journalists doing…journalism.
Cheers,
Alex- editor, Mumbrela
Thanks Alex.
@ Alex – its still strange that the global CEO would do an interview and say they have found a new Mediacom CEO but wont say who.
Either you don’t do a press interview at all, or you say you are going to appoint someone soon – but to say you have confirmed you have found someone but wont say who, is a little strange.
How long to the new CEO at Mediacom is made an offer by the clowns at Mediabrands. Seems Mediabrands has no internal staff growth and development. Nice strategy.
