Guess who’s hunting an editorial director…

A “major” Australian media group is hunting an editorial director to work across its print and online portfolio, but just which company it is remains a mystery.

Recruitment consultancy Anstee Executive has been enlisted to find the new editorial supremo but would not be drawn on the name of the client which is described as a “blue chip international media group”.

Could it be News Limited which has recently announced some significant changes in its structure, not least its move to spin off The Australian into a separate unit in a bid to drive “the significant expansion of our ambitions”, according to its chairman and CEO, John Hartigan.

Then there are the B2B publishers, Reed Business Information and Haymarket Media which would also claim to be big international players – though less so in the case of the latter in the Australian market.
