Meta reveals number of teens blocked on Instagram, Facebook

Meta removed over half a million underage accounts across Instagram, Facebook, and Threads prior to the introduction of the social media ban last month, although the tech giant argues the law is not currently meeting its objectives of increasing the safety and well-being of young Australians.

Meta issued an update on Monday morning regarding its compliance with the social media age ban.

According to the company, by the time the ban came into effect on December 11, it had removed access to 330,639 Instagram accounts, 173,497 Facebook accounts, and 39,916 on Threads.
