Half a million viewers tune in to say goodbye to Sunrise’s Mel Doyle
Melissa Doyle’s final day on Sunrise saw the show grab a relatively rare win in every metro market, and one of the program’s biggest ratings numbers of the year.
Across the five city metro, Seven’s Sunrise beat Nine’s Today by 473,000 to 347,000, one of its biggest winning margins of the year.
In Sydney, Sunrise won Friday by 143,000 to 105,000, while the equally important market of Melbourne saw a closer 127,000 to 111,000 victory.
“Doyle is to move to a new role reading a 4pm bulletin with Matt White on Seven and a 7pm bulletin on 7Two.”
Afternoon newsreading and a digital channel spot. What about the network’s exciting plans for her? that’s a slap in the face that no self-respecting TV host would feel good about.
Agreed Fabfour. It’s just a cover to mask the reality she was boned from the Sunrise programme.
Clearly the tv audience love the sunrise family. Melissa Doyle is a lovely person and genuinely nice. Not done for the camera. Weekend today is woeful. Saw a bit of it on Sunday .
@Viewer…IMO they boned the wrong host. Doyle gave the Koch a touch of class. He’s not so lucky now. Seven have handed Nine the breakfast ratings on a plate. Won’t be long.
