Hamish and Andy no longer Australia’s top podcast
Hamish and Andy have been knocked off the top of the Australian Podcast Ranker, as a new podcast from The Guardian enjoys a top debut.
Casefile is once again Australia’s most-listened-to podcast, with 2.1 million downloads for the month of November, and 879,550 listeners. Hamish and Andy has slipped to second, while ABC News Top Stories has landed at #3, albeit in a month that saw the broadcaster upload 398 new episodes of that particular show.
Mamamia Out Loud and Shameless have switched places in November, to sit at #4 and #5 respectively – which the highest debut comes from Guardian Media Group, whose Full Story podcast debuted at #14.
Despite Casefile’s dominance, true crime continues to fall out of favour genre-wise, sitting behind both society and culture, and news podcasts in terms of listeners.
Meanwhile ARN/iHeart is the top podcast publisher, and SCA/LiSTNR is the top podcast sales representative.

I don’t know anyone (even one person) who listens to Hamish and Andy but I do know so many people who listen to the Joe Rogan Podcast.

Not something to be proud of knowing a lot of Joe Rogan listeners….
Great to see Shameless Media smashing it on this list!

Why do they always report in “Months”?
Yep, the #1 did get 2,110,618 downloads for November. That averages out at 70,354 daily. The six episodes in a month indicates a new episode around every fifth day.
Across the month the #1 had 879,550 listeners … a daily average of 29,318 listeners.
But on such a 24-hrs-a-day media why not tell advertisers about daily performance? Are certain days better opportunities than others? Is 70k download daily and 30k listeners in that 24 hours enough to invest?
Most electronic media not only focus on daily users, but can also report of hourly, 30 minute etc. opportunities.
Be bold!
