Rugby Australia ‘actively’ in market for new headline sponsor after Harvey Norman pulls pin
Rugby Australia is suffering in the fallout of a boardroom coup that saw businessman Hamish McLennan axed as chairman of the board this past weekend after three years in the role.
Harvey Norman is the first major sponsor to pull the pin on the code, with a spokesperson telling The Australian that the home retailer would not be renewing its contract with Rugby Australia after it expires at the end of next month.
Well time to find a new sponsor. How many young players will go to other codes of sports because they know rugby Australia doesn’t have the correct programs in place to develop those players?
That sponsorship money should be invested appropriately with developing young players to build for the future.
They are going to take a hit on this. RA really don’t have much going for them.
A national team at an all time low.
A governing body that is in perpetual disarray.
A sport that is irrelevant to anyone that didn’t attend about eight high schools.
NRL, FFA and AFL must be watching this with glee.
