Hawthorn-Bulldogs AFL clash sees Seven dominate ratings in Melbourne

Seven’s big Friday night AFL clash between Victorian clubs Hawthorn and Bulldogs dominated Friday night viewing in the city, with an average of 376,000 metro viewers watching the match in Melbourne.

The crucial game – which saw the Western Bulldogs’ season come to an end – picked up a further 114,000 Seven viewers in Adelaide. A further 153,000 watched via Seven’s regional affiliates while 7mate viewers in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth added another 161,000 viewers.

The game was the final one for Luke Hodge, Matthew Boyd and Bob Murphy, who all retired from AFL last night.

Meanwhile, Nine’s Friday night NRL – featuring Wests Tigers vs North Queensland Cowboys – rated 208,000 in Sydney and 153,000 in Brisbane. A further 170,000 watched the game on Fox League.

Meanwhile, top program for Friday was Seven News, which averaged 935,000 metro viewers, rising to1.449m with regional viewing too.

Nine News rated 797,000 metro viewers, according to the preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.

Ten’s best performer was The Living Room, with 472,000 metro viewers.

Seven easily won Friday, with a daily share of 25.2%, well ahead of Nine’s 15.5%, Ten’s 9.6% and ABC’s 9.2%.

With one day left of the ratings week, Nine is hanging on to a narrow lead, with a Sunday to Friday share of 21.9%, compared to Seven’s 18.2%.
