Headhunter gets a fitting new name: Cloak & Dagger
Interbrand Sydney has come up with a new name and brand identity for a headhunting firm that reflects the clandestine nature of the profession.
Chantal Manning-Knight, who left The Toni Chapman Consultancy after almost two years to go it alone, now calls her company Cloak & Dagger.
On her business cards there is no reference to her job as a creative recruitment specialist – she is referred to as head of fittings, alterations and repairs at Cloak & Dagger.
Interbrand also designed Manning-Knight’s website, so that it is not immediately obvious that it belongs to a headhunter.
“We’re all familiar with that awkward moment, when a recruiter calls and you need to pretend you are talking to your mother,” explained Richard Curtis, MD of Interbrand Sydney. “So when Chantal approached Interbrand to look at rebranding, we thought why not reposition her business in a way that not only presents her skills, experience and passion for people, but also addresses the need for absolute secrecy and discretion.”
Interbrand has also created Cloak & Dagger bag tags.
Manning-Knight began her career as a copywriter, and has worked at agencies including George Patterson Bates and McCann in Sydney, and Batey Ads and Dentsu Young & Rubicam in Singapore.

Very classy! Congratulations Chantal.
Looks great, well done.
That’s great, fantastic job
Ok…that’s very cool, smooth and classy. Great job.
Simply fabulous.
That’s really very good indeed.
I am declaring myself here as a completely self-appointed arbiter of taste., and never likely to be the focus of head-huntering or anything.
I am thinking . . very first-thoughtable and just a tad naff. Sorry.
I think it’s a great idea. The ironic thing is that it’s getting PR’d through the very industry it’s trying to act discrete about. Which unfortunately means that every advertising professional / boss knows about Cloak and Dagger…so much for being clandestine
Love it! Congratulations.
Classy branding for a classy lady
I like it- looks good!
@paul really?
I see how this will work:
“A lady from Cloak and Dagger left a message – said she’s arranged a meeting with your trousers and Ogilvy’s CD today at Beppis, 12.30”
Very clever.
Publicity stunt, nothing more, nothing less.
Great branding with a bit of fun and one that really encapsulates your modus operandi. Good to see a headhunter’s website without the usual boring stockshots (yawn)
@Nick Being testament to some of the great work that Chantal does I can testify that this is much more than a publicity stunt
Finally, someone whose not scared, sooo refreshing.
Great strategy and fabulous design. Definitely stands out! Good luck Chantal.
Love it. But pity the name at .com.au is a murder mystery party site and .com is already registered. Only found out it was .net.au by blowing up the image of the business card on my iPhone or is this part of the skulduggery … Hmmm
