Helen McCabe swaps Sunday Telegraph for ACP’s Australian Women’s Weekly

Sunday Telegraph deputy editor Helen McCabe is quitting to join ACP’s Australian Women’s Weekly as editor-in-chief, one of the biggest jobs in Australian magazines.

McCabe told Mumbrella: “I’m looking forward to it incredibly. The main challenge for me as a newspaper person is to get my head around the dynamic of magazines. The challenge is to find fabulous stories that inspire the readership. I’m a news journo’s journo.”

McCabe – who will continue to present her politics show on Sky News – began her career with the Seven network in Adelaide. She said: “I’m a political junkie.”

Asked whether the new role on the monthly will see her need to take a more lightweight approach to journalism, she said: ‘I don’t think so. I have done tabloids and broadsheets in equal measure. A yarn’s a yarn whether it’s in the Tele or the Australian.”
