Here Come The Habibs slumps to 662,000 as MKR and Wanted finale dominate the night
Nine comedy Here Come The Habibs slumped to just 662,000 metropolitan viewers last night, a result close to half the 1.249m it drew on debut.
It came on a Tuesday night when My Kitchen Rules dominated with an audience of 1.513m, and the final two episodes of the Rebecca Gibney drama Wanted drew 872,000 and 764,000, respectively, in the 9:00pm and 10:00pm time slot.
Despite five weeks of consecutive declines, The Habibs remains one of the most time-shifted shows – with last week’s result of 764,000 viewers picking up another 137,000 over the past seven days for a result of 934,000.
Wanted also performed strongly in time-shifting, adding 224,000 viewers to last week’s overnight figure of 962,000 for a result of 1.187m.
Channel 9 needs to get smart about their scheduling of Habibs….. the Big Bang audience is not the right lead in….. If Habibs was on tomorrow night, leading in to the doggies game, they’d see huge Sydney numbers.
I’ve been spruiking this show to my family as only the secound actually funny sitcom made in Australia. It started great – I was laughing – they were laughing – lines worthy of Modern Family – “the cat frisbie” – all good and sharp and fast . And then it congealed into slap-stick. Felt like an overworked run out of time? Shame.
