‘His legacy will be felt by so many’: Vale Luke Dunkerley
The advertising industry is mourning the loss of marketer and former creative Luke Dunkerley, who died on Friday.
Dunkerley began his career as a copywriter at Leo Burnett. By 2002, he was managing director of M+C Saatchi Retail, heading up the Woolworths account, before moving to The Campaign Palace as managing director, then STW Communications.
In 2007, he went clientside, moving to Woolworths Supermarkets as its general manager of marketing. He spent a decade with the Woolworths group, having moved to a general manager role in corporate marketing in 2012.
A life lost. This beautiful human is taken from all he loved and those who love him….way too soon. What a cruel twist of fate to lose our Champion Advocate. Luke’s legacy lives on but this in no consolation for the loss. A tragedy for us all. I send love and thanks to all who knew and supported Luke. Luke worked so hard to encourage the community to help find answers and to improve outcomes for all pancreatic cancer patients. The terrible irony was that Luke then had his own diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. It was my privilege to have met and heard Luke speak passionately about the work of Pankind, Pancreatic Cancer Australia. Luke Dunkerley I salute you 🫡 and send my thoughts to your loved ones.
