Hotel Mumbai debuts to $979,302 at weekend box office, behind Captain Marvel

Hotel Mumbai debuted this weekend with $979,302 in earnings, coming in behind Captain Marvel’s second week in theatres.

The film is based on the events of the 2008 terrorist attack on various locations in Mumbai including the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, but involves composite characters based on several survivors of the attack.

In the weeks leading up to it’s release, Hotel Mumbai has garnered criticism for the way it portrays the perpetrators of the attack, with some screen time dedicated to humanising their characters.

Hey Mumbrella,

have commented this before. Please be aware when a film is in advanced screenings rather than official release and report accurately. Fighting With My Family comes out this week but had advanced screenings over the weekend.
