Hunger Games holds onto top position as Hotel Transylvannia sequel debuts at third place
The final instalment of The Hunger Games has continued to top the box office, pulling in $1.8m more then its closest rival James Bond movie Spectre.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 pulled in $5.239m across 527 screens to take its total box office to $17.857m while Spectre grabbed $3.429m across 582 screens to push its total box office above the $25m mark.
Kids movie Hotel Transylvania 2 came in at third place after making $2.179m across 414 screens in its opening weekend.
Australian movie The Dressmaker was knocked into fourth place by Sylvester Stallone’s latest Rocky sequel Creed which made $1.711m across 189 screens in its opening weekend.
The Dressmaker, which stars Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth, has started to run out of steam but still managed $895,719 across 300 screens to push its total local box office takings north of $15m.
Matt Damon’s The Martian has dropped out of the top 10 into 11th place, taking in $118,935 to bring its total box office to $26.998m.
