‘I will never forget what Sonia Kruger said about Muslims’
Sonia Kruger’s Gold Logie win and continued success must be examined in light of her past comments about marginalised Australians, TV-lover and communications professional Adam Rida writes.
The Logie Awards serve as Australian TV’s most prestigious event, celebrating excellence and the industry’s impact.
The recent gathering at The Star in Sydney to celebrate talent across the industry was a much-needed moment after a challenging few years.
But Sonia Kruger’s Gold Logie win should be evaluated given her past comments about marginalised Australians because they have not forgotten the impact and hurt those comments caused.
Why do you think she misspoke, made a mistake or changed her mind?
There doesn’t appear to be any public record of her walking back or clarifying these comments, even after the tribunal’s findings.
Of course the author of this piece is the only person on earth that has never made a mistake misspoke or changed his mind . We have found him . This is it – he’s the one.

Great contribution Adam. Nice to see a thoughtful piece like this in Mumbrella. Freedom of speech with respect and accountability is not such a complex concept.
Excellent read thank you
When comments like Kruger’s are ignored, we send a clear message that those comments are acceptable. When we continue to platform Kruger and celebrate her career – crowning her most popular personality on television – we give a green light to racial and homophobic vilification. Thanks for the great article Adam.
I found this piece both insightful and well balanced. He’s not baying for blood, just a little more understanding.
I guess we found the Sonia Krueger fan.
Yep, you Mike.. the only one.
