I Will Survive debuts with just 506,000
Network Ten’s newest reality competition, I Will Survive has struggled on its first episode.
The search for Australia’s next big star of the stage has rated 506,000 – making it the 23rd most watched show of Tuesday, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.
However, in one sign of hope for the show, its audience rose the entire time it was on air, finishing with 688,000.

What a woeful start to I Will Survive !
After the extensive promotions, publicity, promos and advertising this will only get worse. Imagine what it will achieve next week given the trial by viewers last night.
Track record – YTT, Breakfast, Lara Bingle, The Shire, Everybody Dance Now, I will Survive, The Bolt Report………and now I Won’t Survive !!!!
By the way love the new Super Sunday…I mean Super “Repeat” Sunday schedule.
TEN please put The Shire on at an early time, in an 8 o’clock slot the show was averaging around 800 a far better result,
Channel Ten are raising money via releasing music. They have James Warburton relasing a double “A” Side September first. The songs will be “Nobody Dance Now” and “I won’t Survive”.
Do people actually remember how OZ Tam Ratings work? It’s measured on about 3,000 households and they extrapolate the data from that… Total Bullsh!t!
I watched the last 15 minutes or so of it and I reckon it’s not bad. Certainly the best thing that aside from Puberty Blues that Ten have delivered in the past couple of months.
It went up from 20:30 as ppl would have tuned in for NCIS.
Agree with Shamma. Considering no tv shows run to strict format of starting when advertised, Its definitely more likely that people tuned in, expecting NCIS to start.
It was robbed ratings wise – the show was great.
Hold on to your Hat: Agree with almost everything you say, except re: The Bolt Report, which is consistently outrating its political talk show competitor, the long established Insiders, on ABC.
The Bolt Report also regularly outdoes Meet the Press, which follows it.

Ten has promoted this show for weeks as commencing on 22 August ie. tonight. Their own website still states this and hasn’t been updated.
What effect does the last minute decision to bring forward the first episode by a day have on the potential audience? Do the low ratings reflect solely the quality of the show or the fact that people thought the show started tonight?
We need to give I Will Survive a little bit of time. I think it has potential to be really good.

I saw Surly (a fish from Big Brother) trending Worldwide last night, and the names of a few Xfactor fola Aus-wide also.
Another fail by Ten was that pre-show ads had start time of 7pm! (Check ad in this week’s TV Week)
cba- you have been quiet lately. GO SEVEN!!! x factor will blitz the ratings and will get bigger as the show rolls along! cant wait for tonights auditions. pity the footy is not rating as well as it should.
The Bolt Report is the only good thing about Network Ten. Perhaps they should dump all the other shows, expand Bolt-style reporting and comment and turn Ten into an Aussie version of Fox News.
Looks like Lachlan’s time as acting CEO of Ten (when all of these programming decisions must surely have been made) went really well!
Read Burrowes’ comments on taking risks. He’s spot on! (and I often disagree with his pieces). Seems to be the Australian way to discourage taking risks….failure is frowned upon here (rather than being seen as a necessary part of the process) and hence we lack innovation.
Tough time for TEN and I empathise with Mott, Warburton et al but they will come good eventually. The beat up TEN bandwagon is amazing and not really good for anyone in this industry.
The sad part about all of this is what does actually appeal to the masses according to Oztam or perhaps I’ve just lost touch in my old age.
Compare X-Factor to The Voice and it’s a failure. Typical 7 rubbish production.The Voice has set the standard for this type of show . The ratings will fall just as AGT’s did and hopefully neither will return next year.
