ICC Cricket World Cup final helps Nine pip Seven to Sunday night win

A big Sunday night of sport saw Nine and Seven battle it out for the ratings win, with the ICC Cricket World Cup final  helping Nine Network take a slight edge, winning the evening with a 33.8% audience share over Seven Network’s 29.6%.

The match, which saw England triumph over New Zealand, brought an average of 361,000 metro viewers to secondary channel 9Gem between 7.30am and when ratings reset at 2am, helping it to a 9.4% audience share.

A further 225,000viewers tuned in for the cricket on Foxtel’s subscription channel Fox Cricket.

Combined with the success of Australian Ninja Warrior, which was up year-on-year with 899,000 metro viewers, it was a good night for Nine.
