iiNet host virtual experience at MCG as part of sponsorship of Hawthorn
Internet provider iiNet will be hosting a virtual experience at the MCG on Friday during the match between Hawthorn and Fremantle which will allow fans the chance to kick a goal through the MCG wall.
The giant interactive game, devised and implemented by ApolloNation, will be projected onto the outside of the stadium and uses infrared and light projection technology that challenges people to kick a “virtual” goal from outside the stadium through the wall of the Great Southern Stand and through the goals at that end.
ApolloNation business director James Tamanika said: “This is a first in size and scale for an interactive gesture based game in Australia. It has been great to work with a client like iiNet, who have been so receptive to innovative ideas and we can’t wait to bring this unique game day experience to the public.”
It irks me more and more; but for a WA company to sponsor a foreign team; and then to do some big publicity stunt against a WA team. I’m afraid I dont see the value in iiNet anymore as a WA company. It might as well offshore to India with the way the sponsorship is going.
