Roseanne actor among contestants revealed by Ten for I’m a Celebrity cast
Network Ten’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here kicked off tonight with contestants including talkback host and The Project regular Steve Price, former Olympic swimmer Lisa Curry and Roseanne star Tom Arnold all heading into the jungle.
Retired Collingwood football player Dane Swan, Neighbours star and The Rogue Traders lead singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte, comedian Nazeem Hussain, Miss Universe Australia 2014 Tegan Martin entered the jungle by skydiving from a plane along with Arnold.
The five were followed into the jungle by Price, Curry, My Kitchen Rules star and Dancing with the Stars’ Ash Pollard, actor Jay Laga’aia and Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan.
The five were flown into the jungle in a helicopter and were lowered mid-flight from the helicopter onto a rock and were required to zipline from the rock to the jungle floor.
It’s kind of like: who? – who? – oh, Lisa… – who? – yep, have heard the name somewhere – who? – oh yeah, that guy… – who? – oh, yeah, her…. – who?
By the way Tom Arnold did not appear in Roseanne. He was married to Roseanne Barr and wrote the series. John Goodman played her on screen husband..!
Hi DF,
You are correct that John Goodman played Roseanne’s onscreen husband – however Tom Arnold DID appear in the show. He wrote himself in as one of Dan’s bowling buddies and appeared in multiple episodes: http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0020968/
Thanks,
Vivienne – Mumbrella
I almost made the mistake of calling this out, but luckily did research before commenting…
Dialogue between Julia and Chris pretty stilted – do they like each other?
I *could* watch this series, seeing ordinary people facing challenges…
But the so-called “challenges” of eating ostrich anus and wallowing in poo just tip it over into the Bogan Shadenfreude genre.
It almost seems as if there is no requirement for skill but, rather, a distinct lowering of personal standards.
Facing personal fears and overcoming them, such as parachuting, abseiling, swimming with eels, are more uplifting and, if there were more of that, I’d watch.
There is a bit of the “tall poppy syndrome” about this show.
Eschew.
Yeah he did appear. He wrote himself into the show as a character named Arnie Thomas.
The only real mistake made here is the title of the show. It should be written as …I’m a Celebrity ?????? Get Me Out Of Here!
In all seriousness though, when does being on a reality show make you a celebrity? Are contestants who once appeared on Hey Hey It’s Saturday’s “Red Faces” considered a celebrity?
It’s borderline big brother in the jungle!
+1 for researching before calling it out.
I shall now go hang my head in shame – both for thinking Mumbrella could get it wrong and for spending any time thinking about that terrible TV show.
Sounds utterly thrilling… All the advertising for this does is just say to me “Don’t turn over to Ten for a few weeks.”
