Jenner steps up as Parsons moves to chairman role at Mediacom
Mediacom Sydney’s boss Toby Jenner has been made CEO of the WPP media agency’s Australian operation as Anne Parsons moves to a chairman role.
Meanwhile, Melbourne boss Mark Pejic will take on the new role of chief operating officer.
Parsons said: “My role is to ensure the smooth transition of the future leaders and to continue our outstanding client relationships. Mediacom is lucky enough to have strong internal talent that is perfectly poised to take on this mantle.”
Jenner said: “It’s a tremendous privilege that Mark and I now have to lead Mediacom alongside Annie. The entire Mediacom team is looking forward to evolving our offer and building upon the existing strength of the business.”
And Pejic added “I have been fortunate to have spent the past 12 years working in a progressive and successful business. I look forward to continuing to build the momentum and taking on more challenges alongside the industry’s most talented people.”
The move follows the high profile appointment earlier this year of ex Naked boss Mat Baxter to Mediacom.
Jenner, who is British, joined the agency after a successful stint leading fellow WPP agency Mediaedge:cia in the UK.
Thoroughly well deserved…!
So basically they’ve gone from having a CEO and two MD’s to having a Chairman, a CEO and a COO. Brilliant. Perhaps the receptionist could be re-titled ‘Director of Initial Client Interaction’?
Good luck to them.
There’s a whole lot of media agencies standing still at the moment in terms of evolving their offering – so fair play to any making genuine steps to evolve.
Making a success of it is another thing altogether of course.
Surely the important thing here is…what does Mark Coad think about this??
He has an opinion on everything else in Mumbrella today.
Nice natural shot of them all too… arms folded, eyebrows arched and looking so earnest too…Ha
I approve. Carry on.
Someone get Annie a coat, she looks cold.
Thanks Mark.
Any chance I can get you on an RSS feed?
the delay in coady’s response Mr Corbett is because he’s gone to ask Leigh Terry what an RSS is.
I wonder if this moving of the deckchairs will result in a substantially better result for clients, or should we examine WPP’s continued revenue loss and perhaps apportion some of the blame to the kinds of appointments it makes.
Ooh Stephen….you bitch!
Well I have been fortunate enough to meet Mr Jenner.
Hi Tim,
Please make this your last ‘ad person gets a promotion/new job’ story.
B&T do it constantly and it’s sooo boring.
I’d rather hear what you had for lunch on twitter.
It might be boring to you Tony, but I don’t think everyone agrees with you. We only try and cover the most senior people moving around, and with regard to this particualr case it’s a little more significant than an ad person being promoted. And to find out what I had for lunch then follow @bandt on twitter. Cheers.
At least it’s better than the B&T story about the Singleton name being dropped from the Ogilvy&Mather brand, though I do agree with Tony that Mumbrella needs to present a point of difference.
I don’t know anything about this story, but that looks like the publicity shot for a british cop show.
That Singo story was Adnews
Tony
With 17 responses to this story I suspect Dr Mumbo is comfortable with his editorial direction.
Good call Matt on the Cop Show photo: very Life on Mars
Why do people with big collars always take themselves so seriously?
OK fair enough. I stand corrected. 19 comments show interest in these sorts of stories.
The unique photographic style (much discussed above) will alert me, and I’ll just avoid them in future.
Just wanted to alert you to the fact that Anne Parsons has obviously been beaten on the head several times with a hairy blunt instrument (Jenner’s fist) because her neck seems to have disappeared into her shoulders entirely. The new job isn’t worth it if you end up 10cms shorter
The boys look a little uncomfortable without their ties.
