Jess Rowe’s Safe Space miniseries returns with powerful new season

Jess Rowe has launched a new season of Safe Space, spotlighting untold stories from well-known Australian women.
The announcement:
Following the breakout success of its debut, Safe Space—the deeply human miniseries from The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show—returns today (Wednesday 2 July) with a new five-part season spotlighting extraordinary stories from well-known Australian women who’ve felt marginalised, misunderstood or simply unseen. The first Safe Space series became one of the podcast’s most-streamed offerings to date.
Launched on LiSTNR and available on all major podcast platforms, the series extends Jess Rowe’s signature brand of warm, disarming interviews into raw territory. From living with a terminal illness to surviving imprisonment in a foreign prison, each episode offers unfiltered conversations that go far beyond celebrity, with guests including:
- Kellie Finlayson on finding purpose in the face of a terminal cancer diagnosis (Live tomorrow, 2 July)
- Cheng Lei on her three-year incarceration in a Chinese prison, and the psychological cost of isolation
- Chloe Hayden on being Australia’s first openly autistic actress, and the systemic invisibility of neurodivergent women
- Steph Trethewey on postnatal depression and the brutal loneliness of motherhood in the bush
- Angela White on reclaiming power, navigating stigma, and building a career in adult entertainment
The series will roll out weekly until Wednesday 30 July, and is available across all platforms.
Jess Rowe said: “Podcasting is such a joy as it means I have the time and space to share conversations that matter. Our Safe Space miniseries goes even further, as you might know the names of the people I’ve interviewed, but I’ve focused on their life experiences that have meant they’ve been marginalized, misunderstood or ignored. I can’t wait to share these conversations with you.”
Mike Williams, head of entertainment & culture at LiSTNR, said: “Jess Rowe brings her trademark curiosity to powerful stories of people experiencing extraordinary, heartbreaking, or unexpected lives. Known for her intimate celebrity chats, a new series of SAFE SPACE sees Jess once again step beyond the spotlight to spark conversations and perspectives you might not have considered.”
