Karl Stefanovic’s This Time Next Year tops Monday night ratings
Despite speculation Karl Stefanovic has fallen out of favour with viewers, his new ‘transformational’ television show, This Time Next Year, debuted on Nine last night and topped the ratings leader board with 1.282m metro viewers.
Consisting of Australians pledging to change their lives over the course of a year, the show saw most of its viewers watch from Melbourne (441,000) and Sydney (362,000), according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.
It’s a very clever format, and of course heart string TV is a big winner at the moment. I for one refuse to watch Karl on TV, I just find him super-cringey (he’s in a tight contest with Darren McMullen, Wippa [OMG, good on radio, terrible TV talent] and Sonia K for worst hosts on Oz TV), so I do wonder what would happen if they had a different host?
I predict a steady ratings decline from its initial solid start as people who sampled it early will get sick of the schmaltz and of Karl. I have been proven wrong before however, so good luck to KS and Chanel 9 (intentionally misspelt for the pedants…).
