Kerry O’Brien to host Four Corners
Kerry O’Brien – the outgoing presenter of The 7.30 Report – is to host Four Corners next year, The ABC has announced.
O’Brien’s appointment will see the show return to its original format, with a host introducing the long form reports.
Previous hosts of Four Corners have included Michael Charlton, Mike Willesee, Caroline Jones, Andrew Olle and Liz Jackson.
Kate Torney, ABC News Director said: “Kerry worked for Four Corners as a reporter in the 1970’s and again in the1980’s, before presenting Lateline and then The 7.30 Report. This is a great way for Four Corners to mark such a major milestone in Australian journalism of 50 years on air.”
Ahhh…Aunty… a job for life.
Thumbs down from me.
As a publicly-funded broadcaster, the ABC should be bringing in fresh blood, trying new things… but instead they recycle the same faces that have been there since the 70s and 80s…
My guess is Tony Jones will take over the 7:30 Report and Margaret Pomeranz and her emphysemic wheeze will host Q&A. 😉
Kerry O’Brien to introduce long’ish current affairs stories and maybe do interviews (as reported in The Australian).
Errr.. isn’t that the 7.30 Report?
Does this mean Maxine McKew will be back on Lateline?
Nice one Tom re Pomeranz
If TJ moves to 7:30
They could get Craig Reucassel to host Q and A if they are looking to the future.
But they will probably get some one like Peter Berner or Andrew Denton.
