Kidspot.com.au’s Kim Wilson set to be named editor-in-chief of Australian Women’s Weekly
Former New idea editor-in-chief Kim Wilson is reportedly set to be named as the new editor-in-chief of The Australian Women’s Weekly, replacing Helen McCabe who stepped down in January.
Wilson is currently editor of NewsLifeMedia’s parenting website Kidspot.com.au and ran Pacific Magazines’ New Idea for five years until 2014.
Mumbrella understands Wilson has resigned from Kidspot.
The Australian reports Bauer Media, which owns The Australian Women’s Weekly, is expected to announce Wilson’s appointment today.
Good luck to Kim Wilson and I hope she does well. But I find it odd publishers often fill positions with people who have previously had a chance to prove their worth and not set the world on fire.
Interesting that they picked a Bauer outsider. Probably because everyone within the company is so disenchanted…
I don’t know Kim Wilson (but good luck to her in her new role) but I’d say previous editor of New Idea and Kidspot is NOT an ideal choice to edit such an iconic and, relatively speaking, classy title as the Weekly. Does a woman of her age and experience really represent the interests of Australian women in general, in particular those who have traditionally been drawn to the Weekly? Hhhhhmmmm … perhaps we have another New Idea-style mag in the making, more would be the pity. I hope I’m wrong 🙂
